What will it take to create change?

We all have something we’ve wanted to change for a while - years or decades even - but haven’t.

Why is that?

We know what we need to do but can’t seem to make ourselves…just do it. It’s not a lack of information or a lack of wishing. It’s certainly not a lack of trying to shame ourselves into action. It’s something else.

What is THAT?

Today’s post is short. Because this reflection question isn’t a hack for how to finally force yourself into change.

It’s about getting curious. What will it take to create change?

There are two parts to asking yourself this question effectively.

The first is to be gentle in your tone. Ask yourself with sincere interest and openness and without a hint of criticism or judgement.

The second is to sit quietly and wait for your answers. Listen past whatever initial defensiveness and excuses come up. What comes up next?

This check-in can make us uncomfortable because it exposes our true priorities in a way we don’t like to acknowledge out loud - even in our heads.

The benefit is critical information on limiting beliefs and stories we tell ourselves about what’s possible.

Building this awareness is the first step in creating real change.
