What’s on the back burner?
There’s something there. It’s been there for a while. You tell yourself it’s not dead, it’s just not now.
What’s on your back burner?
These are the things big or small we seriously considered doing at some point. It felt so good to imagine. We would research, plan, and take a couple of steps. And then our circumstances or desire changed.
But it’s still there. And when we’re tired, stressed, bored, or fed up, we lift the lid and look at it admiringly for a moment before pushing it back.
What is it for you?
For today’s reflection, indulge yourself for a few minutes to reconnect with the idea of this thing. (You likely have many but for the exercise, focus on one.) Pick one you worry you’ll regret not doing, you know, at the end.
Spend a few minutes thinking about or writing out the following:
What is it specifically? What originally made you want it?
What changed in your life that made you put it aside?
How have those circumstances changed, if at all?
And most importantly, what would it mean to you to get it?
I’m very interested in understanding this topic better and would love to hear from you. If you’re open to sharing more, schedule 15 minutes for us to talk it through.
